Since 1999, FARM’s Sabina Fund has partnered with nearly 150 grassroots organizations across the world by awarding small grants to support their efforts to promote a plant-based diet and animal rights. The Fund honors the memory of FARM President Alex Hershaft’s mother, Sabina. These small grants have produced amazing efforts by creative, dedicated folks who donate their time, talent, and tenacity and require only minimal seed grants to help get their projects started.

FARM is excited to announce an unprecedented and exciting addition to our Pay-Per-View program: a full-time touring vehicle (mock-up illustration pictured above)! Under the direction of driver/coordinator Jeni Haines, we intend to reach over 100,000 people each year through nearly 300 events, starting June 2012 for Warped Tour.
By showing Mercy for Animals’ powerful Farm to Fridge video, Pay-Per-View continues to provide amazing results: around 80% of viewers pledge to decrease animal product consumption and over 50% of viewers have made these changes 1 month later. Based on the survey data, we estimate that an average of 10 animals per year are spared for each Pay-Per-View participant. If we reach our goal of 100,000 viewers, we can spare 1 million animals in the first year alone! Continue reading »
In keeping with the life-affirming spirit of Thanksgiving, FARM’s president and founder, Alex Hershaft, faxed a letter to President Obama asking him to pardon ALL turkeys bound for White House dinners.
The letter thanks the president for granting reprieve to two turkeys and for making healthy eating a top priority for this administration, while urging him to do more than ceremoniously pardon turkeys. FARM asks Obama to create a new White House tradition by becoming “the first president to observe a truly nonviolent holiday season” by pardoning all turkeys.
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to encourage compassion for all sentient beings. It is a time to come together and experience the warmth of being loved. So if you’re inviting non-vegan friends over to celebrate, this is a great opportunity to provide delicious alternatives to cruel turkey dinners.
Holding a feed-in or a Pay-Per-View event is the ideal way to motivate others to live more compassionately. You could coordinate a public vegan dinner, host a private meal for friends and family, offer samples of bite-sized turkey alternatives to the public in a busy area, or hold a video event near a grocery store or on a college campus. Whatever your plans, be sure to share them with us! We would love to here how you are celebrating this year’s Gentle Thanksgiving.

World Farm Animals Day is a time to memorialize and mourn the loss of the 65 billion farmed animals who are killed each year for food. Each year since 1983, hundreds of caring individuals have coordinated events in their communities to draw attention to the ongoing terror facing farmed animals — please join us in taking a stand on October 2nd!
As always, the best way to honor these animals is to encourage others to adopt a vegan diet. For WFAD 2011, FARM is launching our new Pay Per View program — an innovative and amazingly effective method for exposing the public to the truth about animal agriculture.
If you register by July 4, you will still get the discounted rate of $140 — after that, you can still register throughout July or even show up at the door to pay, but it’ll cost you $20 more!
Whether you’re still sorting out transportation or trying to convince a friend to come along with you, now is the time to get the ball rolling. And remember, there are all sorts of other ways to save money on the conference, from room shares to box lunches!
Join a coalition of activists supported by Equal Justice Alliance, Farm Animal Rights Movement and more for demonstrations at Spanish Embassies and Consulates for the international day of action in solidarity with the 12 animal activists in Spain, who have been recently arrested for conducting undercover investigations and open rescues. These arrests mirror the recent attacks on activists worldwide, including the cases of the recently acquitted activists in Austria and those in the US who are victims of designer legislation directed towards animal activists. Solidarity is more than just a word – join the public outcry against this severe injustice!
RSVP on Facebook for our demos in Washington DC, New York, or San Francisco!

All of animal agriculture relies on the exploitation and emotional abuse of farmed animal mothers, and yet millions of human moms will celebrate on Sunday with brunch or breakfast-in-bed featuring the products of this horrible system.
For this Mother’s Day, let your family and friends know the cruelties behind these industries and recommend that they switch to a vegan diet. Surprise the mothers in your life with a delicious tofu scramble, vegan French toast, and perhaps a copy of Isa Chandra Moskowitz’s Vegan Brunch!
Let’s move to a tradition that honors all mothers — show your support this year and next through Liberation BC’s Cow Ribbon program!
